Scholarships for the Netherlands
Studying in the Netherlands can be much more affordable than you think.
Students from the European Union (EU) pay the same reduced tuition fees as Dutch students.
However, finding a scholarship for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the Netherlands is not always easy.
Fortunately, there are several forms of financial support to help you achieve your dream of studying in the Netherlands, even without a scholarship:
Dutch public funding (Study Finance)
The alternative to a scholarship in the Netherlands is if you work at least 32 hours per month in the country (or earn at least €650 per month): you can apply for Dutch public student funding.
What does it include?
- Basic grant: around €320 per month
- Supplementary grant: up to €470 extra per month, depending on your parents’ income
- Non-repayable: if you complete your program within 10 years, you don’t have to pay anything back

Dutch government loan (Study Loan)
DUO – the Dutch financial service – also offers a low-interest student loan to cover tuition fees.
How does repayment work?
- Starts only after graduation
- Flexible duration: 15 to 35 years
- Monthly amount depends on your future income
A safe and sustainable option, designed for European students who want to study in the Netherlands.
