Are you thinking about studying and working in the Netherlands? Wondering if it’s possible to support yourself at least partially? The answer is yes: for international students looking for work in the Netherlands, opportunities are plenty – especially if you’re motivated and well organized.

With the help of Goingdutch, hundreds of students have already found part-time jobs in the Netherlands, received government grants, and learned to manage expenses independently. You can discover how to do it too.

Do you have enough time to work while studying?

Yes! University courses in the Netherlands are structured to give you free time for work.

On average, a student has 15–20 hours per week free – perfect for a part-time job alongside studies. Not only will you improve your English (or Dutch), but you’ll also start building valuable experience for the future.

With 32 hours of work per month, you’re eligible for study finance

Study finance is a government bonus for students who work at least 32 hours per month. It’s a little-known opportunity: a monthly contribution from the Dutch government for students who work at least 32 hours per month (about 8 hours per week). If you meet this requirement, you can receive:

  • A fixed monthly allowance

  • Reimbursement for public transport (OV chipkaart)

  • Access to scholarships and discounts

Thanks to this support, you can cover rent, health insurance, and daily living expenses without heavily relying on your family. Learn more in our dedicated article on study finance.
